Educating Our Educators

Last month, we heard from area colleges about their efforts to prepare students for jobs and internships. This month, it's time to turn the tables and hear from *you* about what you'd like to see from recent college graduates and potential interns.

We want to hear your answers to the following questions:

  • Are you able to find graduates with the skills you need and when you need them?
  • Which area schools do the best job of preparing students for work at your company?
  • What types of experiences have you had hiring people right out of high school?
  • What additional skills do you wish graduates had under their belt?
  • What skills or knowledge do you wish your existing workers had to offer?
  • What advice would you give the area colleges and universities, or the local public schools?

Wednesday's Lunch & Learn ties in directly with a project we are tackling in conjunction with the Vermont BioSciences Alliance. Our plan is to present the needs of our members to area educators, from Kindergarten through college, from gradual school to continuing education. We are also exploring with the state department of education the creation of a Integrated Center of Excellence related to technology and science.

Please join us for this important discussion.
