Topic - Tales from the Trenches, Starting and Growing a Successful Software Business
In 1969, at age 26, Rich Tarrant and his partner co-founded Burlington Data Processing, now IDX Corporation. In 1995, IDX went public, trading on the Nasdaq, with revenues of $128 million and 1,095 employees. At the end of 2005, IDX had approximately 2,400 employees, and revenues of over $500 million. On January 4 of this year, GE acquired IDX.
Although IDX is now part of one of the world's largest corporations, Rich was once standing in the shoes we are all in today -- he was running a fledgling software company in a growing industry, with big dreams. Rich will be joining us to share what he learned over the 35 years of building his successful software company. He will be addressing topics including the company's biggest challenges in its early years, financing its rapid growth, the key factors that contributed to the company's ability to grow so quickly, etc.
