vtSDA Values and Policies

The mission of the Vermont Software Developers' Alliance is to promote and grow Vermont software development businesses.

These policies support and assure three core values of the Alliance: Success, Opportunity, and Professionalism.

Vermont Software Developers' Alliance (vtSDA) has established a number of policies to which its members shall adhere. These policies support the advancement of the Vermont software industry through creation of collaborative and knowledge-sharing opportunities for Alliance's membership, as a forum free of conflict of interests. vtSDA will expend its efforts on behalf of all its members, regardless of size.

Success

vtSDA will concentrate its efforts on subjects that will help its members successfully grow their businesses and achieve profitability, including:

  • Sharing business best practices and methodologies
  • Cultivating financing sources and strategies
  • Increasing knowledge competency, resource sharing, and networking

Opportunity

vtSDA will strive to enhance the creative, competitive and business potential of each of its members. In addition to participating in monthly meeting and networking opportunities, members can form special interest groups. The vtSDA will provide speakers, workshops, social activities, and other ways to increase its membership's potential, both personally and professionally.

  • Build and promote the image of the Vermont software industry
  • Providing opportunities for member businesses to promote themselves
  • Promoting member businesses in general
  • Cultivating business opportunities for members
  • Providing forums for collaborative efforts

vtSDA's only role in collaborative efforts is to provide a forum for its members to meet. Individual members are responsible for the standard business and legal due diligence required for successful collaborative efforts between business entities. vtSDA will not act as an agent or broker for collaborative efforts.

vtSDA supports a healthy work-life balance and may provide opportunities for members to have fun and take advantage of Vermont's quality of life.

Professionalism

vtSDA will promote the highest standards of professionalism and best practices among its members. vtSDA will be honest and transparent in its dealings with its members, speakers, and all organizations/individuals.

While providing its members with access to information and business opportunities, vtSDA expressly acknowledges the competitive nature of markets members participate in. Acknowledging this, vtSDA will not condone any incidents or appearance of anti-competitive behavior, price-fixing, anti-trust violations or other unethical behavior by any of its members.

Member Pledge

All members of the vtSDA pledge to respect the integrity of fellow members of the organization and foster a sharing and collaborative environment. Members will respect the relationship between fellow members and their employees and customers. Members agree to respect the confidentiality of information about other members.

Board Member Pledge

The board will endeavor to act in the best interest of the vtSDA and its membership.

As elected officials of the Alliance, board members agree to use information obtained through the vtSDA only for vtSDA purposes until such information has been shared with the membership at large.

All board members agree to be accessible to all members of vtSDA. All board members agree to be honest, courteous and professional when dealing with members.  All members agree to return this commitment of honesty, courteousness and professionalism when dealing with the board members.

The board will encourage feedback from the vtSDA membership on the effectiveness of its efforts and adherence to its core values, Success, Opportunity, and Professionalism.
